Sandford's Bakery is a family run business located in the small market town of Great Torrington, North Devon, England.
Every tasty morsel is baked by our small team of skilled artisan bakers. We pride ourselves on the use of traditional methods and recipes, and do not use any preservatives in the foods we produce.
The bakery first opened its doors in June 1981, the property was previously run by Mr & Mrs Warne as a greengrocers and florist. The change began when their daughter, Mary Warne, went to work in London at the age of 18 where she later met her husband-to-be Nick Lovering, a trained chef and baker. The couple married and moved back to Great Torrington, and with the help of Mary’s parents and sister, turned the premises into Sandford’s Bakery.
In June 2008, Amy, the eldest daughter of Nick and Mary joined the bakery team. Then in 2020, the youngest daughter Katie joined, making Sandford’s a true family business spanning three generations.
We make breads, cakes, pastries, pasties, sandwiches and deep pan pizza. All made to traditional recipes and all really rather delicious.
